Shary Connella is based in New York. Connella is an award winning, artist, photographer, photojournalist and member of the NPPA (National Press Photographers Assoication). Her love for photography began at four-years-old, after receiving a camera as a present from her Aunt Elaine at Christmas. Connella graduated from the University of Florida Photojournalism School with a Bachelor's degree. Connella's work has been published in many publications: The New York Times, The Gainesville Sun, St. Petersburg Times, Fort Lauderdale Sentinel, USA Today, Hudson Valley Magazine, New Spaces Magazine and the New York Magazine. She has also worked as a freelance photographer for the New York Times chain and Wainscott Publications. Connella also has photographed celebrities such as Emmitt Smith, Paul Newman, General Swratzkoff, Phil Donahue, Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, River Phoenix, grammy award winning Melanie Safka, Chris Noth and now you.
Connella was recently chosen to photograph the Korpai home for the television series show "Extreme Home Makeover Edition," which aired Oct 16th, 2011 on ABC.
Connella has also won national recognition for her photography with "The Woman Under The Shower," photo and the pictures with a dog playfully tugging on a water-skier's tow rope called "Tommy's Tugboat." These two photographs were displayed in the Book of Days Calendar book in several museums around the world. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in San Francisco, New York and Miami. Connella also received the Kodak Eastman Impact of Photography award with the "Mother and Daughter," photograph. She is listed in Who's who among Women photojournalists.
